Engineer, Software I

Rise Internet

Location: Dallas County, TXType: Full-timePosted:

Application Deadline: 11/21/2026 or until the position is filled. About The Role Help shape AI-accelerated development at Rise Internet. You'll partner with teams across the company to build web apps, applets, automations, and integrations, using tools such as Claude Code and Amp Code in your everyday work. You'll build for network and engineering, sales and marketing, customer support, and finance and operations, working with the systems and data behind a broadband operation. Our stack includes Postgres, MySQL, Kubernetes, and Python APIs. We value building and shipping over expertise in any one tool. You don't need to be an expert. You'll own delivery with guidance from the Principal Software Architect and senior technical leaders: regular code reviews, architecture support, and projects scoped to your experience. Senior technical leaders will review and approve production changes as you build experience. What you'll do Partner and build Work directly with teams to understand their needs and help triage, scope, and prioritize requests with stakeholders. Use AI coding tools to design and build custom solutions and integrations with existing platforms. Own it from concept to completion Take projects from an initial conversation through deployment and ongoing support. Support what you ship: fix issues, answer user questions, and take part in an on-call rotation for production tools. Test early, gather feedback from the people using what you build, and iterate. With senior guidance, learn production safeguards: safe database changes, monitoring, and rollbacks. Shape how we build Help establish reliable AI-accelerated development practices, including infrastructure setup, deployment pipelines, testing, and evaluation. Modernize Maintain legacy code and help migrate scripts, spreadsheets, apps, and services to modern tools and infrastructure. Communicate Document what you build so others can use, maintain, and extend it. What we're looking for Required A background in computer science, engineering, or AI, and at least one substantive project taken from concept to completion through coursework, personal work, an internship, or a job. Strong project ownership: work autonomously toward a goal. Strong written and verbal communication, tailored to technical and non-technical audiences. Working proficiency in at least one programming language, such as Python or TypeScript. Hands-on experience using an agentic coding tool (Claude Code, Amp Code, Cursor, Codex) to solve real problems. Working knowledge of APIs and integration: REST, webhooks, MCP (Model Context Protocol), authentication, and reading and applying other systems' documentation. Working SQL and enough database fluency to wrangle the data a solution needs. Proficiency with Git: branching, versioning, and maintaining parallel workstreams across multiple people and AI agents. Ability to explain, debug, and independently verify code, including AI-generated code, so it stands up to peer review. Familiarity with deployment and testing basics: containers, CI/CD, cloud platforms, and writing tests. A plus A bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, AI, or a related field (not required). Experience building with LLM APIs: prompting, tool calling, agents, RAG, or frameworks such as Google ADK or LangChain . Experience with classical machine learning. Experience building data pipelines. Telco, ISP, or WISP background. Hands-on cloud experience. What success looks like Teams across Rise Internet bring you problems and get working solutions back quickly. What you ship works, is documented, and keeps working after you hand it off. Our infrastructure, deployment, testing, and evaluation practices are better because you were part of building them. Application notes Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States. We encourage you to include a link to your work, such as a portfolio, a GitHub repository, or a project you built, ideally one made with AI tools. Disclaimer This job description is not meant to be an all-inclusive statement of every duty and responsibility which will ever be required of an employee in this position, however, the employee will be held responsible for all duties assigned.
