Aurora

Location: Pittsburgh, PAType: VolunteerPosted:

Who We Are Aurora’s mission is to deliver the benefits of self-driving technology safely, quickly, and broadly. The Aurora Driver will create a new era in mobility and logistics, one that will bring a safer, more efficient, and more accessible future to everyone. At Aurora, you will tackle massively complex problems alongside other passionate, intelligent individuals, growing as an expert while expanding your knowledge. For the latest news from Aurora, visit aurora.tech or follow us on LinkedIn. What We Are Looking For We're searching for Summer 2027 Safety & Systems Engineering Interns. You'll work on the systems and safety engineering that holds a safety-critical driving product to its requirements — functional safety, behavioral and system safety, systems-engineering process, and requirements/fault analysis for the Aurora Driver. In this role you will Perform safety analysis to identify root causes and common-cause failures across vehicle, system, or software subsystems Build tooling to support safety-analysis or requirements-development processes Analyze test coverage and data to determine whether the system meets its safety and behavioral requirements Explore external and internal data sources to identify previously unknown scenarios or system sensitivities Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to engineering stakeholders Required Qualifications Currently pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's or PhD in Systems Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field Some exposure to a system where failure had real consequences, even at the coursework or club-project level Familiarity with structured failure-analysis methods (FMEA, fault trees, STPA, or other formal root-cause methods) Regular use of Python for analysis or tooling Experience running an analysis as part of a trade study Ability to reason about evidence and statistics — coverage and confidence, not just pass/fail counts Desirable Qualifications Prior safety-engineering experience (functional safety, ISO 26262-class standards) C++ experience Experience with UML/SysML Compensation The hourly pay rate for this internship in Mountain View is: $58.00 per hour for interns pursuing a master’s degree; and $65.00 per hour for interns pursuing a doctoral degree. The hourly pay rate for this internship in Pittsburgh is: $52.00 per hour for interns pursuing a master’s degree; and $58.00 per hour for interns pursuing a doctoral degree. Working at Aurora At Aurora, we bring together extraordinarily talented and experienced people united by the strength of our values. We operate with integrity, set outrageous goals, and build a culture where we win together — all without any jerks. We believe in-person work increases collaboration, empathy, and our ability to lead effectively. As a result, Aurorans are expected to work from the office at least 3 days per week, with some roles requiring more frequent in-office presence, up to 5 days per week, based on operational needs. Our Careers page provides insight into what it is like to work at Aurora, and you can find all the latest updates in our Newsroom. Our commitment to safety At the core of everything we do is our commitment to safety. Building best-in-class self-driving technology will take time, and we believe that each employee at Aurora has a role in contributing to safety, every step of the way. Aurora expects commitment to our safety policies from every employee, and seeks candidates who take an active responsibility, can contribute to building an atmosphere of trust, and invest in the organization’s long-term success by prioritizing working safely, no matter what. Our commitment to inclusion Aurora considers candidates without regard to their race, color, religion, national origin, age, sex, gender, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, marital status, pregnancy status, parent or caregiver status, ancestry, political affiliation, veteran and/or military status, physical or mental disability, or any other status protected by federal or state law. Aurora considers qualified applicants with criminal histories, consistent with applicable federal, state, and local law. Data Science Intern

Zillow

Location: Seattle, WAType: Full-timePosted:

About The Team Zillow's Data Science and Analytics organization turns complex data into insights that inform decisions across the company. As an intern, you'll join the team and explore how data can help us understand customer behavior, measure outcomes, and find ways to improve the customer experience. You'll work with data scientists and cross-functional partners, building your analytical skills while bringing a fresh perspective to real business questions. Interns may focus on areas such as: Business: build reporting, models, and insights that help specific Zillow organizations assess current initiatives and find opportunities to innovate. Marketing: develop experimentation-first strategies for consumer and business marketing, and measure how each channel performs. Product: analyze how people use our web and app products so we can deliver a better experience for everything home. Pricing: help develop pricing strategies that deliver strong value for customers such as Premier Agents, lenders, and landlords. Tools: turn the large volume of data Zillow collects every day into data products that help partners make informed decisions. About The Role At Zillow, interns do meaningful work that contributes to the business from day one. As a Data Science Intern, you’ll apply the quantitative and programming skills you’re building in school to a scoped, real-world project. With guidance from your manager and team, you’ll work through the analytical process—from defining a question and preparing data to interpreting results and sharing recommendations. Our nine-week summer internship program, running June 14 through August 13, 2027, gives students the opportunity to bring their ideas and perspectives to real projects alongside Zillow teams. Interns build hands-on experience, connect with mentors and leaders, and take part in learning and community experiences with their intern cohort. Our 2027 internships are based in Seattle and follow a hybrid schedule, with interns generally working together in person Tuesday through Thursday. Use SQL and Python/R to explore, prepare, and validate data, documenting assumptions and flagging data-quality issues. Analyze patterns in customer behavior or business performance to uncover insights and potential opportunities. Apply statistical methods, such as regression, hypothesis testing, or experiment analysis (including A/B tests and pilots), as fits your project. Help define and interpret metrics that connect your analysis to customer and business outcomes, and support ongoing performance tracking. Create clear visualizations and reproducible analyses that make your findings useful to others. Work with engineers, product managers, marketers, and other teammates to build a shared approach to analyzing and communicating insights. Communicate your approach, results, recommendations, and limitations to technical and nontechnical audiences. Document your work and deliver a final presentation and handoff so the team can build on your findings.
