At First.Tech, we're building and scaling technology products across financial services and other high-impact industries. Our engineering teams work on real products, real customers, and applications that need to deliver reliable, secure, and seamless user experiences at scale.
We're looking for a Lead Frontend Engineer who combines strong hands-on frontend engineering expertise with technical leadership. You'll lead the development of scalable, high-quality frontend applications, drive engineering best practices, and help shape technical decisions while remaining actively involved in coding and delivery.
This is a hands-on technical leadership role for someone who enjoys solving complex frontend challenges, improving application architecture and performance, and helping other engineers grow.
What you'll be working on
Lead the design, development, and evolution of modern frontend applications using React, TypeScript, and contemporary JavaScript technologies.
Define and promote scalable frontend architecture, reusable components, state management patterns, and maintainable code structures.
Translate product requirements and design concepts into responsive, accessible, and high-quality user interfaces.
Drive technical decisions around frontend architecture, application performance, scalability, security, and maintainability.
Establish coding standards, lead code reviews, and promote engineering best practices across the frontend team.
Optimize application performance, loading times, rendering efficiency, and overall user experience.
Collaborate closely with Product, UX/UI Design, Backend, QA, and DevOps teams to deliver end-to-end product features.
Ensure frontend applications integrate reliably with REST APIs and backend services.
Promote automated testing, debugging, quality assurance, and continuous improvement of frontend development practices.
Mentor frontend engineers, provide technical guidance, and encourage knowledge sharing and continuous learning.
Take ownership of frontend solutions throughout their lifecycle, from technical design and development to deployment, monitoring, and ongoing improvement.
Evaluate and encourage the responsible use of AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity, code quality, and engineering efficiency.
We're looking for someone who
Has 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with substantial experience in frontend development.
Has strong hands-on expertise in React, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
Has experience designing and developing scalable, maintainable, and component-based frontend applications.
Has a solid understanding of frontend architecture, reusable design patterns, state management, and modern application development practices.
Has experience managing application state using tools such as Redux or comparable state management solutions.
Understands REST APIs, asynchronous programming, browser behavior, and frontend/backend integration.
Has experience optimizing frontend performance, improving rendering efficiency, and troubleshooting complex UI issues.
Has experience with code reviews, technical decision-making, and establishing frontend engineering standards.
Has mentored developers or provided technical guidance to frontend engineering teams.
Understands automated testing, Git, CI/CD, and modern Agile software development practices.
Has exposure to responsive design, accessibility standards, cross-browser compatibility, and frontend security best practices.
Demonstrates strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
Is comfortable balancing hands-on development with technical leadership and cross-functional collaboration.
