The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy of inventory records, maintaining the integrity of inventory-related accounting data, strengthening internal controls, and supporting reliable financial reporting through effective coordination with Warehousing, Production, Procurement, Planning, and Cost Accounting.
This role goes beyond routine document checking. It requires a strong control mindset, analytical thinking, and the ability to investigate discrepancies, identify root causes, and follow up on corrective actions.
Key Responsibilities
1. Inventory Transactions Control
Review and verify inventory documentation, including goods receipts, material issues, stock transfers, returns, and other inventory movements, ensuring completeness and proper authorization.
Reconcile inventory transactions recorded in the ERP system against supporting documents and investigate unposted, incomplete, or inconsistent transactions.
Verify item codes, units of measure, quantities, prices, and relevant accounting data to ensure accurate inventory records.
2. Inventory Reconciliation & Accuracy
Perform periodic reconciliations between physical stock balances, warehouse records, ERP balances, and inventory-related accounting records.
Investigate quantity and value discrepancies, identify root causes, and coordinate with relevant departments to resolve them.
Monitor approved inventory adjustments and ensure that all adjustments are properly documented, reviewed, and authorized in accordance with company policies.
3. Physical Stocktaking & Internal Controls
Participate in periodic, cycle, surprise, and annual physical inventory counts.
Prepare detailed stocktaking reports highlighting discrepancies, unusual movements, and control weaknesses.
Follow up on corrective actions and support the implementation of effective internal controls, ensuring appropriate segregation between physical inventory custody, transaction recording, and accounting verification.
4. Manufacturing Inventory Control
Monitor inventory movements relating to raw materials, spare parts, production supplies, semi-finished goods, work in process (WIP), and finished goods.
Review material issues to production, production-related inventory transfers, and finished goods receipts against relevant production orders and supporting documentation.
Coordinate with Production, Planning, Warehousing, and Cost Accounting to investigate discrepancies between material issues, consumption, production output, and recorded inventory balances.
5. Inventory Valuation & Cost Accounting Coordination
Review inventory valuation data and related prices in accordance with the company's approved accounting policies.
Monitor the accounting impact of price and quantity variances, scrap, waste, and damaged inventory, coordinating with the relevant specialists where necessary.
Support month-end inventory closing activities and provide accurate inventory data for financial reporting.
6. Reporting & Inventory Analysis
Prepare periodic reports covering inventory balances, movements, stocktaking variances, adjustments, and outstanding transactions.
Identify and report slow-moving, non-moving, obsolete, and damaged inventory in coordination with the relevant departments.
Analyze recurring discrepancies and recommend corrective actions to improve inventory accuracy, documentation, and control procedures.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
2–4 years of relevant experience in inventory accounting, inventory control, or accounting within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Practical experience in stock reconciliation, physical inventory counts, variance investigation, and inventory documentation review.
