Position Summary The Senior Production Engineer will be responsible for managing day-to-day factory operations, ensuring production targets, quality standards, inventory control, and delivery commitments are consistently achieved. The successful candidate will lead a team of approximately 10 technicians and one junior engineer, while driving operational excellence across all manufacturing activities. This role is intended for a hands-on engineering leader with strong manufacturing experience and the ambition to progress into a broader factory management position. Key Responsibilities Manufacturing Operations Plan, coordinate, and oversee daily factory operations. Manage production schedules to meet customer delivery requirements. Supervise manufacturing activities including: Metal casting and foundry operations Fabrication and metal forming Welding and assembly Electrical assembly of transformer rectifiers and monitoring equipment Product testing and final inspection Ensure optimum utilisation of manpower, equipment, and materials. Monitor production performance and implement corrective actions where necessary. Drive productivity improvements and operational efficiency initiatives. Team Leadership Lead, motivate, and develop production personnel. Directly supervise technicians and junior engineering staff. Promote a culture of safety, accountability, quality, and continuous improvement. Conduct performance reviews, workforce planning, and skills development activities. Inventory & Production Planning Coordinate with procurement and stores teams to ensure material availability. Monitor inventory levels of raw materials, components, and finished goods. Support inventory control activities and stock accuracy. Ensure efficient production planning and resource allocation. Quality & Continuous Improvement Maintain compliance with company quality requirements and manufacturing procedures. Investigate production and quality issues and implement corrective actions. Establish and monitor operational KPIs. Identify opportunities to reduce waste, improve efficiency, and enhance product quality. Support the implementation of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives. Health, Safety & Compliance Ensure all manufacturing activities are conducted safely and in accordance with company procedures. Promote high standards of workplace organisation and housekeeping. Support compliance with quality, safety, and customer requirements. Qualifications & Experience Essential Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics, Electro-Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline. 10+ years of experience in manufacturing, production, or industrial operations environments. Minimum 5 years of experience in a production leadership or supervisory role. Proven experience managing shop-floor operations and technical personnel. Strong understanding of fabrication, welding, assembly, and industrial manufacturing processes. Experience with production planning, inventory management, and operational performance monitoring. Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and leadership capabilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and production reporting tools. Preferred Experience in one or more of the following industries is highly desirable: Industrial equipment manufacturing Electrical equipment manufacturing Switchgear and control panel assembly Transformer manufacturing Metal fabrication and welding Oil & gas equipment manufacturing Corrosion protection systems Heavy industrial products and engineered equipment Experience with the following will be considered an advantage: Metal casting and foundry operations ERP systems and inventory management software Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Six Sigma, or Kaizen methodologies ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems The Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is a hands-on manufacturing leader who: Leads from the factory floor rather than from the office.
